Hi,
I once installed Visual studio 6 and VSS 2005 on my machine. At this time I was actually not in need of Administartion. but only checkin and checkout.
Now I want to try VSS server administartion.
I uninstalled the above two applications and installed VSS 6.0 on my system.
But its not creating new database and admin users.
Its using the old Databse. So I can not log in as administartor as I dont remember the password. Could you please help me.

Thank you kindly. Our admin is away and without this we wouldn't have been able to add a new user. Luckily the Admin password is easy to guess!

Hi,
I have been using VSS for quite some time, but till now not able to figure out how to log admin user actions.
For example I want to know when the admin user created a user, what rights were given to user and revoked and for which project folders etc.,

Request help on this. It would be great if you can email me on this to sudhakaratp@gmail.com

Regards,
Sudhakara.T.P.

VSS 2005 can integrate with AD. There is a "Use network name for automatic user log in" option in the General tab of the SourceSafe Options dialog box. The dialog box can be brought by clicking menu Tools-> Options in the VSS Admin tool.

When this option is enabled, VSS will use your Windows login/username to log into VSS automatically and your password will not be checked. If there is no such user name in VSS database, a visual log in dialog box will show up.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Does VSS 2005 integrate with logins in AD or are the two login stores still separate? My scenario is if I have an AD login that is locked out due to failed login attempts, could that login still access VSS?

By the looks of this, it still looks like they are separate but any info would help.

Thanks in advance!
